The Lean Startup Summit https://leanstartup.co/berlin2019 addressed the topics of innovation, intrapreneurship and change in corporate culture. The motto of the conference was: “Building the Future Company Today.” Several hundred European companies from across all industries were present. I found it particularly interesting to see that many of them had already embarked on a journey to a new corporate culture that promotes innovation.

At the Brigitte Symposium under the heading “My Life, My Job & I,” I held a speech in the “My Job” category about innovation in front of around 80 women from various industries. Many participants told me afterwards that they come across very outdated structures in their companies that are impediments to innovation and employee commitment. With the help of my approaches presented during my speech, they identified a lot of potential to change their situation.

In 2018, I facilitated a 2-day Design Thinking workshop focused on user-based solution development. The participants had a lot of fun with user interviews we conducted in downtown Limburg. The biggest lesson learned was not to interpret what was said, but to really concentrate on what the respondents actually had said.

This open-format workshop was also held at the premises of the Monastery of Gnadenthal. After very briefly discussing phenomena of traditional organizations including inefficiency, informal power structures, political tactics and tedious meetings, we started looking into alternatives to hierarchical pyramid-type organizations.

In June, I held the open seminar “Innovation through Modern Leadership” at the premises of the Monastery of Gnadenthal (30km north of Wiesbaden). This seminar is a new workshop concept in my portfolio and is directed to entrepreneurs, division heads, managers, and people willing to make a change.
